By Chris Glynn

Edelman Financial Engines has hired Suzanne van Staveren from Goldman Sachs & Company, the Palo Alto, Calif., company said in a press release.

The release stated van Staveren, who was chief financial officer of Goldman Sachs Personal Financial Management, will be CFO of the $290 billion independent investment advisor and financial planner. In addition, van Staveren will hold the title of executive vice president.

She will oversee a 90-member team working in finance and retirement, Edelman noted.

For Goldman Sachs, van Staveren integrated Ayco, the personal financial-management solution. She also worked as chief operating officer for Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

Earlier in her Wall Street career, van Staveren served as financial analyst for Fidelity Investments, as well as senior vice president for AXA. She earned her BA of science from Johnson & Wales as well as her MBA from Northeastern University.

A phone call to Edelman Financial Engines asking how CFO was handled before hiring van Staveren was not returned.
